Believe it or not, SEO is a very important thing when it comes to running a site online. Something that is great about SEO is that the higher you are in the SERPS the more traffic you are going to recieve which of course means more money coming in.

So How Does SEO Work?

A company that is very good in offering out SEO will work together with you to target certain key phrases for your business and they will get those ranking and improve traffic to the site. It is not impossible for a limited amount of SEO to be done internally but I would certainly not recommend just doing this as if you do this the likelihood is that you will not be using SEO to the full potential that you could be using it for.

A trained SEO will look into the site to see what key terms are best for you and then they will put them forward for you to look at. Of course you can come back and disagree but you have to realise that a trained SEO knows exactly what they are talking about. If you are a small site I would certainly not go after the bigger terms to start with as you are not likely to get anywhere, however let your SEO decide on that. This is just one of the many reasons why an SEO may suggest you go for some of the smaller terms.

An SEO is not all about off site activity and they may tell you that you need a bit of web design to sort out some of the things on the site. This should always be taken into mind because a good site will allow an SEO to optimise the way that they do things in a better way.
